As well as being a fully qualified and registered teacher, David is an honours graduate in music of the University of London. He also holds two diplomas in violin performance and two in violin teaching and spent a year at the National Centre for Orchestral Studies.

David’s teaching experience is extensive and covers both classroom and individual and group teaching, as well as ensemble coaching. He has taught children of four and adults of eighty.

He has played in many different types of ensemble, from duos to orchestras and covering a wide range of musical styles. This has included playing in a Ceilidh band which has made several recordings. He has also conducted student and adult choirs and theatrical performances and composed and arranged music for a variety of ensembles

David is well versed in Music Technology and regularly uses Sibelius as a composing tool.

He has spent many years working overseas, both in Africa and the Far East, where, as well as teaching, he played for radio and television. He also conducted the massed choirs for the Sultan of Brunei’s 60th birthday celebrations, an international event involving 13 countries.

He currently plays in the Exeter Symphony Orchestra and is leader of the Sidmouth Orchestra, both of which give frequent public concerts. He also leads two string quartets.

Besides continuing to compose, David also makes and repairs violins and other stringed instruments and has attended a number of violin making courses in America.
