Aims

  • To provide a high quality instrumental music service to individuals, schools and other organisations.
  • To encourage and develop each pupil’s musical potential according to individual needs.
  • To encourage the development and expansion of instrumental music and to promote the need for a balanced musical education for all.
  • To provide schools and other organisations with advice on planning, monitoring, sustaining and developing instrumental teaching programmes.
  • To support schools by providing a full range of musical opportunities within the school curriculum and through extra-curricular activities.
  • To supply suitably trained, qualified and experienced teachers to meet the demands of individuals, schools and other organisations.
  • To provide an effective quality control scheme and professional development programme.
  • To support the development of county-wide orchestras and ensembles and to facilitate access to these opportunities for an increasing number of young musicians.
  • To monitor the progress of pupils and ensure the effectiveness of the services offered.
  • To work in partnership with Devon County Council and other providers in developing music education for all.
  • To develop Music Devon as a financially viable company.
  • To follow the principles and practice of equal opportunities both as an employer and as a membership organisation.
